Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Rebecca Brownlee, RN BSN
I graduated from Jackson Community College in 1995 with a certificate in Practical Nursing. I completed the Associates Degree Transition program at Jackson Community College in 2001; and took the State of Michigan Nursing exam for licensure and became a Registered Nurse. I returned to college and completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Eastern Michigan University in 2011. I have worked in many areas of healthcare in my almost 20 years as a nurse. I have worked in Long Term Care, Acute Care, Long Term Acute Care, Home Healthcare, Step-down and am currently a nurse in the Hillsdale Community Health Center’s Emergency Room.
I began teaching part-time at the Hillsdale Area Career Center in the first year Health Science class 3 years ago. I loved it and now work full time at the Career Center. Currently, we have 47 first-year students enrolled in the first year Health Science Classes. The Health Science program is designed to give each student a foundation in body systems, medical math, and medical terminology. The Health Science Lab has four beds where students can practice skills. We incorporate Nursing Informatics by training the students to be proficient in computer learning. Being currently employed in the nursing field I am able to give the students the most up to date evidence-based information on the care they will provide.
