Year 1

    Students will study, learn, and master the following: 

    • Follow safe industry work practices using appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE) 
    • Perfect basic welding skills 
    • Perform flat, vertical, and horizontal welds 
    • Learn basic blueprint reading, welding symbols, and measurement
    • Practice and learn employability skills
    • Use Oxyacetylene welding and cutting, shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding processes 

     Year 2

    Students will:

    • Work with Engineering, Drafting, and Design Technologies Program to collaboratively create and design a project 
    • Create a resume, cover letter, and learn other skills to use when applying for a job 
    • Participate in job shadowing, apprenticeships and/or work-based learning (if criteria have been met) 
    • Continue to work at mastering welding skills that become progressively more difficult 
    • Practicing programming and using the Plasma Cutting Table and/or Robotic Welding trainer 
    • Use the Air Arc Carbon Cutting equipment 
    • Focus on honing the skills necessary to enter the job market as a welder and/or advanced studies in an articulate college program
