    What is a SCECH?

State Continuing Education Clock Hours are credits that can be obtained by school personnel to renew certification.

    How do I earn SCECH?

You can earn SCECHs by attending a workshop or conference where SCECH credits are issued.  Specific paperwork will be provided to you at workshops or conferences; be sure to complete the forms before leaving the event.

Effective March 1, 2010,  the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) began utilizing a Secure Central Registry (SCR) to track all State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs) earned January 1, 2010, and after. The SCR is available on a 24/7 basis and is staffed with Help Desk personnel to assist with site navigation, Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. MDE does not have a central registry for SCECHs (formerly SBCEUs) awarded prior to January 1, 2010. Individuals who need to verify credit awarded previously to this date must contact the SCECH coordinator of the offering and request a transcript.

Eligible participants now receive email notification following the upload of their record of completion with instructions on how to create a Personal Account in the SCR along with a deadline to complete the required common evaluation within 30 days. SCECHs are awarded after evaluation completion and are immediately viewable on an Unofficial Transcript. The SCR Unofficial Transcript replaces any paper Certificates of Completion or transcripts that would normally have been provided. Educators should note that a PIC number is not required in order for the Personal Account to be completed or SCECHs awarded. A $5.00 processing fee for each SCECH offering, payable to the Hillsdale County ISD, will be implemented starting May 1.

How can I request that SCECH credits are offered at my workshop or conference?

Send an email to Kim Svacha, SCECH Coordinator, at kim.svacha@hillsdale-isd.org for all pertinent information and documentation.
