A big thank you to Thornton Creek, Moraine and Winchester Elementary school for opening your doors to staff from the ISD and Pittsford Elementary. The team had the opportunity to visit 3 Leader in Me Lighthouse schools. The visit consisted of conversations with staff and students around the implementation of Leader in Me and a sustainable MTSS process, along with a tour of each building. Our team is looking forward to using what we observed to better our practice!

According to NASA.gov (https://science.nasa.gov/eclipses/future-eclipses/eclipse-2024/), on April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk.
Safety is the number one priority when viewing a total solar eclipse. Be sure you are familiar with what you should wear to protect your eyes during viewing. Some local libraries may still have eclipse viewing glasses available. Safe viewing!

The Early Childhood Department has been having some holiday fun. Each December day is a different dress up theme day. The festivities started with Grinch Day, Logo Day, Winterfest Day, Crazy Sock Day, Candy Cane Day, Merry & Bright Day and Ugly Sweater Day.
Last week, the high school ISD MOCI classroom had a special guest teacher.....Laurie Rice, recently retired math teacher from Jonesville and parent, came in to teach a hands on lesson about volume. She taught us about the volume of different sized cylinders and connected the lesson with Devil's Tower, a national monument in Wyoming. It was fun! Everyone learned and enjoyed it.

On October 6, Reading Junior High Students from Lesleigh Clarkâs Ranger Awareness class participated in an informational visit with Amy Bayes, TCVI with HCISD. This Reading Schools class is designed to inform students about different types of disabilities including what they are, what could be the cause, educational or outside support, and tools used with individuals who have a disability. The goal of the course is to make the students more aware and more accepting of those who are different from them. This session included the role of a TCVI and a chance to check out some adapted materials useful for people with visual impairments. The students were given the opportunity to try on simulators to have a better understanding of some common visual conditions, feel braille materials, learn about adaptations and get questions answered. #hillsdaleisd #hillsdalecountyisd #michiganisds
